Lcd Display - PLASMA TV

If you are looking to purchase a new LCD display or Plasma TV, you are faced with a difficult decision.  Both of these televisions are loaded with features and choosing between them can be a bit of a chore.  This is not like the good old days when mom and dad had to decide between black and white or a color television.  You are about to spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on a television and you are going to want to make sure it has exactly what you want.  Settling for anything less would be foolish with the amount of cash you are going to be spending.

To be honest, they will both provide an incredible viewing experiences, it is more just a matter of what you prefer.  Both types of TV’s have their own advantages, but overall, it is going to be what is most important to you that will decide which one you will buy.  Here is a quick look at some of the major advantages of both types of televisions to make that decision just a little bit easier for you.

There are two major misconceptions about plasma televisions that need to be addressed immediately, burn in and viewing hours.  When plasma televisions first hit the market, the technology was not what it is today and some of the televisions experienced something called burn in.  This was an image that was fixed on the screen permanently, like a logo or scoreboard.  This is something that you can pretty much dismiss with today’s television sets.  They now feature anti-burn technology which shifts the images are being shifted in the screen.  While the image will appear to be in the same place to the viewer, the pixels are actually shifting continuously to avoid burn in.  This is something that you should look for on any set that you purchase, but it is pretty much a feature on any decent set.

The other factor is viewing life of the television.  The plasma does not leak out of the set and gases to not escape into the air, these are all wives tails.  In fact, the average plasma television will last for well over 30,000 viewing hours.  What does that mean in lay terms?  Let’s put it this way, if you watched your television for 8 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, you would have well over 10 years of hours on your television.  In other words, your television is going to last as long if not longer than a traditional picture tube television.  If you don’t play video games on the television on a regular basis and view most of things in cinema mode, these numbers will actually increase even further.

Plasma televisions will produce an image that is unbelievably realistic.  People have often described watching sporting events on them as feeling as though they were in a super box and looking down on the field.  When you say that you can actually see the detail of the blades of grass, it is not an exaggeration.  Watching a sporting event on a plasma is a surreal experience.

LCD Flat Panel televisions will also provide some incredible viewing.  A great feature on LCD televisions is that every screen over 15” feature true HD resolution.  This is something to consider if you are setting up multiple televisions around your house or establishment and don’t have room for a bigger screen everywhere.

You will also find that the smaller models of LCD’s are very affordable.  You can usually find a very affordable set in any model under 46”.  The reason for the price increase at that level is mostly due to the increased technology that is used in producing a 1920x1080 pixel resolution.

If energy conservation is a concern, you are going to want to seriously consider an LCD.  They use about 25% less energy that other types of televisions and weigh significantly less than other televisions, in some cases it is as much as 20% for a like model.  You will also have the benefit of being able to choose from a wider variety of television sizes without losing any of the true characteristics that the LCD Flat Panels offer.

In  the end, you have to look at the key features of both types of televisions and decide which one is right for you.  Your best bet is going to be to go to a store and look at them side by side to see which one is perfect for you.  Sports fans may like one type while movie fanatics will like another type.  It really is just a matter of what you like the best and there is no better way to figure that out than to see if with your own eyes.
